Before I begin my biography, let me say that I am pleased that the students of NPHS recognize my novel approach to teaching. I was selected as the "Teacher Most Likely to Think Outside the Box" in the year 2008-2009. The students voted me the 2009-2010 academic year as the "Most Creative Teacher." This current year 2014-5, I was voted as "Helping Hand (most likely to help you if you come to me with a problem)." I have three times been selected as the "Most Inspirational Teacher" by a senior graduating in the Top Ten of the class, the latest being from the graduating class of 2013.
In the year 2011-2012, I was nominated for "Best Personality" and "Most Likely to Brighten your Day."
In 2012-2013, I was nominated as the "Funniest Teacher."
In 2013-2014, I was nominated as "Most Easy to Relate to."
Thank you for these honors!
I am entering my eleventh year of teaching, bringing to the classroom an advanced degree in chemistry as well as over 20 years of experience in the chemical industry. I have traveled to over 20 countries, 35 states and made technical presentations throughout North America. I also was an amateur radio announcer for eight years.
I started my professional career in the laboratory as an industrial analytical chemist, where I answered such questions as to what a chemical was or how much of it there was in a mixture. From there I moved to sales, where I was in charge of all the technical aspects in sales in the North American subsidiary of an international chemical company.
Prior to joining the staff at North Plainfield, my last teaching adventure was in mainland China, where I held the post of Adjunct Professor in a private college in Taiyuan.
I welcome any concerned parent, guardian or student to contact me at my school e-mail address: email@example.com.
A note in my mailbox in the high school office is welcome. This is the best way to contact me if you need a fast response, as I check my mail several times daily.
Allow me to add that I am enjoying spending class time with every one of my students. I also hope that I can continue to be a resource for them in the future.
Any of my students (or even those not in my classes) is welcome to contact me for extra help. I am available during certain periods in the day or after school. Please ask! I do not want to find out that you did not know the subject matter because of a low quiz or test score.
I was a witness to the fall of the Twin Towers on 9/11/01 from the NJ side of the Hudson. This is my memoir of my experience.
Here are some photos of a few of the places I've visited. Enjoy!
