John DeLaurentis, a teacher of English at North Plainfield High School, recently participated in a poetry launch party for the literary journal, Killing the Angel. The event was for the launch of Issue 2 of the journal, which features Mr. DeLaurentis’ poem, “Call of the Woolf.” Mr. DeLaurentis’ poem explores the life of the writer Virginia Woolf. Mr. DeLaurentis read this poem at the event, which took place at Small World Coffee in Princeton, New Jersey on September 27, 2013. He also read another poem about his daughter's first school experience, "Yellow and Blue," from his second poetry book, which is currently in submission. This literary journal was created within the last two years by Jessica Rosevear, who was a part of Mr. DeLaurentis’ cohort at Rutgers University when he obtained his master’s in English Education and teacher certification. DeLaurentis’ reading can be viewed here.
