Greetings and Welcome to North Plainfield Middle School!
What are the essential characteristics of a great school? There have been many debates, books, seminars, and ongoing research to answer this essential question. I encountered a familiar quote that stated: “The ideal school should be a cross between Harvard and Disneyland; educational excellence and the happiest place on earth.” This quote exemplifies the ideals and practices that are found at North Plainfield Middle School. The middle school is a vibrant learning and teaching community.
In this community the district’s core principles of Caring, Appreciation, Respect, and Determination remain the center of our daily interactions and manner of communication. As you travel throughout the school on a typical day, you will observe students exchanging in critical analysis of real world problems, reflecting on historical primary sources, utilizing Google Applications as a tool for learning, staff members in professional learning communities reviewing the latest best practices, and counselors creating a plan of action with family members, to name a few.
The extracurricular activities include sports teams, Robotics Club, Student Council, Junior National Honor Society, Nerds Club, and many others. We are open and welcome to all student interests. If you find that there is not a club or activity to whet your intellectual appetite, students along with a staff member, can create an original club. This entrepreneurial mindset is encouraged to add to the dynamic culture in the middle school. Union and cultural norm for all students and faculty. It is an ideal place to teach and learn.
