The decision for a new high school schedule reflects the district’s commitment to improving instructional effectiveness, student focus, and overall well-being. The current schedule has presented several challenges, including limited instructional time, early start times that affect student focus, insufficient time for in-depth lessons, and increased stress related to workload and class transitions.

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Valentina Carleo has been approved as our new Director of Human Resources. Ms. Carleo is a familiar face in the North Plainfield community, having served as Principal of Stony Brook School since 2021. We will begin an immediate search for a new Stony Brook School principal.

The New Jersey School Public Relations Association (NJSPRA) named North Plainfield School District a winner in the 2025 School Communication Award Program. North Plainfield received an Award of Merit in the newsletter category. The award-winning entry created by the district’s Public Information Officer is a key component of the district’s communications strategy. Printed and mailed to all North Plainfield residents three times a year, the publication promotes transparent and meaningful engagement.

The North Plainfield District Board of Education has approved a new five-year contract with the North Plainfield Education Association (NPEA). The contract will be in effect from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. It was approved by the NPEA on September 8 and by the school board on September 10.

The North Plainfield community has voted in favor of the school bond referendum, a $34 million investment in critical upgrades and renovations across the district — at no additional tax impact for residents. See next steps.
