The North Plainfield District Board of Education has approved a new five-year contract with the North Plainfield Education Association (NPEA). The contract will be in effect from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. It was approved by the NPEA on September 8 and by the school board on September 10.

North Plainfield High School proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new STEM Lab on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. This cutting-edge space, named The Underground STEM Innovation Lab, has been designed to spark innovation, foster creativity, and provide hands-on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The journey to bring Restorative Practices to NPSD began with the common goal of building a thriving, connected community while supporting paths for individual and collective accountability. 

The New Jersey Department of Education recently recognized North Plainfield Middle School (NPMS) as one of the 52 New Jersey schools that demonstrated exceptional growth in student performance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congratulations to our Superintendent Dr. Michelle Aquino, on being named the 2024 Somerset County Superintendent of the Year! The Somerset County Association of School Administrators (SCASA) honored Dr. Aquino during the North Plainfield School District's Board of Education meeting on October 18, where she was presented with a plaque symbolizing the deep respect and admiration her peers hold for her.
